Happy New Year
A very Happy New Year from all of us here at the Space. We hope that you managed to to catch up with friends and family, take a break from routine and get to walk out in the fresh air in our beautiful Dorset countryside over the festive period. We are really looking forward to the year ahead and have lots of things planned in addition to our regular class schedule. And we promise to have the wood burner lit and the underfloor heating on so that it is warm and cosy for practice, especially on these winter mornings. We look forward to seeing you on a mat soon. Yoga for children and teens
The lovely Juliette Oliver, from Orckid Yoga, is holding two special workshops on Tuesday 30 December at The Space. The children’s class is a 1-hour session (10-11am) for 5 to 9 year olds. Meanwhile, yoga for teens blends music with dynamic movement and the experience of stillness and silence. Teen yoga starts at 11.30-12.30pm and is suitable for 11 to 17 year olds.

After the most amazing Summer, it will soon be time to dig out the Winter woollies and light the wood-burning stove here at The Space. I’ve always loved this time of year, especially as we are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Dorset countryside.
From the stunning display of Autumn leaves to the produce from the garden, there is a definite sense of the change in seasons, and with it also a sense of looking inwards and nurturing ourselves ready for Winter.
This change in seasons is also a time to take stock, to look at our own lives, having gratitude for everything and letting go of anything we need to. Clearing out the old to make way for the new.
It’s very much a time to be in the present, enjoying every precious moment – be it drinking a cup of fresh coffee or stepping on crunchy leaves…
Stepping on your mat each day to practise yoga is precisely about all of these things. From being intimately connected to our breath, keeping us focused on the present, to allowing the fluctuations of the mind to settle and ‘let go’.
On a personal level, I am really looking forward to getting back to sharing yoga with you all. After a few weeks away, learning to be patient, I want to extend my own gratitude for the many ‘get well soon’ messages and general loveliness.
I especially want to say thank you to the amazing group of teachers at The Space who have looked after everyone so beautifully. I feel very lucky to be part of such a kind and thoughtful community.
Enjoy your practice, everyone, and looking forward to seeing you on a mat sometime soon.

New ‘Yoga for Pregnancy’ class starting next week …
Starting next week we have a new Pregnancy yoga class here at the Space. This class is suitable for all baby bumps from 14 weeks of pregnancy onwards and is open to complete beginners to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners. To find out more about this or to book a space as well as other classes and workshops here please check our online schedule. Weekly classes include morning ‘Mysore’ Ashtanga Yoga self practice sessions amongst others.
As the Sandbanks/Shell Bay ferry is out of action for the next few weeks for its service, there are a few changes to the regular timetable as some of our lovely regular teachers rely on this to get to class so please check the timetable before coming and thank you for understanding.

Pregnancy yoga CPD Day
Just a couple of spaces left! Sign up for this one-day workshop with Cherie ‘Yoga Mama’ Lathey on 6 September. ‘Supporting pregnant students in a general yoga class’ is a fantastic resource day for teachers who may have pregnant students in the class. The session is registered with Yoga Alliance UK as a CPD workshop.

It’s hard to believe that Autumn is on its way, but what a Summer we’ve had! It’s been lovely to see so many people on their mats at practice.
