We have spent the last two years exploring and developing ways in which to offer ongoing training in a way that will really support teachers, or teachers to be, in each of their journeys as educators. We have been working both on our own mentorship and teacher development offerings here at our Dorset yoga space and also collaborating with our wonderful colleagues at Limehouse Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga Worldwide and Stillpoint Yoga London, amongst others, as Amayu yoga training.
We have all felt that we needed to create and evolve a robust and ongoing model for training, with proper governance and policies that puts the student / teacher empowerment at the heart of that model.
What we have come to appreciate, through the privilege of holding a space here for our own little community, is how important it is to have the support of our fellow teaching community and our own teachers. We all need someone that we can go to to share things that come up for us in our teaching journey, to ask questions, and to be questioned. A kind of informal peer to peer supervision.
The longer I do this work as an educator, the more I realise how much there is to know and explore and the more I make sure that I make space for my own ongoing training and growth, so that I can keep inquiring. Teaching is a wonderfully creative process.
We will be starting to offer a range of training and mentorship programmes from Autumn 2020, some of which will be collaborative programmes with other highly respected teachers.
We believe strongly that teaching is not a one way process but a two way relationship of sharing and exploring ideas and topics and so before confirming the finer details and dates, I would love to have an opportunity to meet with anyone who is considering a teacher training or mentorship to tell you a little bit more about what we have planned and for you to share your ideas and thoughts and to ask questions.
